Top Fives - Musical moments in The Simpsons

After having The Simpsons Flintstones parody in my head all day ("... he's about to hit a chestnut tree"), I figure this is a worth while topic for a top five. There's plenty of similar lists around, but meh. For the purposes of this, I'm omitting things like the use of "The Hardest Button to Button" which is more of a video parody, or "Hens love roosters, geese love ganders..." which isn't really featured in an episode, being more of a tack-on. None of these are likely to be surprises but, it's my list so who cares?





5. An amendment to be (The Day the Violence Died)

"Oh yeah! Door's open boys!". Funny in and of itself, but the hooting at the end just puts it over the top for me.

4. New Orleans (A Streetcar Named Marge)
One of the many songs I'm forever quoting. If I ever do travel to New Orleans, I may find myself in a bit of trouble...

3. We do! (Homer the Great)
Provides the answer for how "A Beautiful Mind" beat "Fellowship of the Ring" back in 2001, and "Crash" over "Brokeback Mountain" in 2005.

2. Monorail  (Marge vs. the Monorail)
When I first visited Sydney, I annoyed my travelling companions quite a bit by quoting this... with the closure of the monorail, it's good to see I'm not the only one who remembered that "Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook had a monorail, and by gum, it put them on the map."

 1. Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want to Get Off! (A Fish Called Selma)
Really, what else could there be at number 1? If there is ever a Planet of the Apes musical made, it had better include exchanges like "What's wrong with me?" "I think you're crazy" "Want a second opinion" "You're also lazy".
