Hottest 100 votes 2014

After giving it some thought, here are my final votes for the 2014 Triple J Hottest 100.

Unusually for me, there's only two artists that I've previously voted for in my short list (though Interpol have come close previously as well). Run The Jewels with "Close Your Eyes", Amity Affliction with "Pittsburgh", Black Keys with "Fever" and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's "Cellophane" all came close to making the final list.

I'm expecting about six songs to make the final 100, which would be up slightly from last year (where it was four).

Calling all Cars - "Standing in the Ocean"
Previous votes for artist:
  • "Hold, Hold Fire" (2009)
  • "Reptile" (2011)
Likely range: 101-200

DZ Deathrays - "Gina works at Hearts"
Likely result: 51-75

Glass Animals - "Gooey"
Likely range: 26-50

Hilltop Hoods - "Cosby Sweater"
Likely range: 1 - 5

Interpol - "All the rage back home"
Likely range: 51-75

Parquet Courts - "Black and White"
Likely range: 101-200

Royal Blood - "Ten Tonne Skeleton"
Likely range: 51-75

This just as easily could have been "Little Monster"... hopefully there's not too much of a vote split amongst Royal Blood.

Slipknot - "Negative One"
Previous votes for artist:
  • "Wait and Bleed" (2000)
  • "Left Behind" (2001)
Likely range: 101-200

Total Control - "Flesh War"
Likely range: 101-200

War on Drugs - "Red Eyes"
Likely range: 26-50
